Did you hear me on the radio yesterday?
I was listening to the Beth and Bill Show on KEZ 99.9 FM and they were soliciting calls from people who have reinvented their lives due to the economy. So, I called up with my story about how I was an accountant for 35 years, and now I am a comic book store owner. I was able to tell them the name and location of the store, and that we’ve been in business for a year. Wow, they said. They were all amazed at the difference between being an accountant and owning a comic book store.
And even better – a while later, our customer, Joy Leveen called up and told her story. At the end, she said she wanted to give out a shout-out to Comic Zone, mentioning that she was a satisfied customer and we’ve always been really helpful to her and her husband. Woo hoo! Thank you, Joy!
I am so proud of our store for being there for our customers, and so very, very grateful for our wonderful customers!
We really had a great time! What a fun bunch of folks. I saw SO much enthusiasm for comics last night, it has really motivated and inspired me in a big way. The people who attend the art walk are definitely more fun in general, I think.
Here are a couple of folks who were dressed in costume, holding a volume of our V for Vendetta book:

Many people who came by our tables told us how happy they were to see a comic book presence downtown and asked us if we would be back.Oh yeah, we’ll be back. We made a bit of money that makes it worth our while – not as much as I had hoped, but enough to work on our presence so we can grow it to more.
There were many highlights to the night. I really loved watching Avery work the customers. He was really “on” last night, and gave out a ton of our business cards, letting people know about the store. So, even though they didn’t buy from us last night, so very many more people are now aware that we have a store.

Another big highlight was time spent with Maryana, our hostess for the space. She very generously offered to let us set up outside of her herb shop for a reasonable rental fee, and it was a great spot! I am so pleased to have her presence in my life.
So, all in all, a very successful night – a lot of hard work, but worth it.
